This store has the best selection of any hardware store I have ever been to. People may say that the prices are a little bit higher but the merchandise is of a much higher quality than other stores and it is worth the prices. Beyond the merch, the store has so many perks to shopping there, like free popcorn when you enter, custom items that you won't find anywhere else in Charlotte, and the best selection of cabinet hardware anywhere in the state. As for customer service, I have read a few of the lesser rated reviews and I must say that they had a very different and rare experience at Blackhawk. I have never met with anyone in the store that was not incredibly helpful, very kind, and directed me to exactly what I was looking for with the best attitude I've ever encountered in a retail environment. I have been in this store so many times in past months that I am now on a first name basis with a few of them! I moved from Boston to Charlotte and the difference is night and day ...

I love this store - you can find just about anything!! However be careful what you wish for. I purchased some unique plate hangers from them and found them several other places for much less than half the price. While I understand that retailers must mark merchandise up to make a profit - I feel it is very unfair to overcharge at such a high rate. I will be more careful in the future if I decide to go back.

I stopped by Blackhawk Hardware recently and enjoyed the wide variety, but the sales help - who were very aggressively "helpful" - had a hard time directing me to the item I was looking for. Then when I got to the registers, two young women were standing together at one register chatting - about personal stuff, not work - one glanced up and, very dismissively said, "over there" pointing to the next register (which had a line). I can get that type of servivce at one of the big box stores with lower prices - no need to go back to Blackhawk unless there is something I can't find elsewhere.
